(4177) Vachell, Horace (1861-1955). “Miss Doroti Ferfaks i eë syn”

Original typescript, 1st copy (First copies from this period are exceedingly rare as, for the most part, they were usually kept by the typist who, in almost every case, destroyed their copies on arrival of Yuri Andropov to power). 370 pages. 20,5cm. Hardbound binding. Samizdat dated 1960-62.

Of the 335 books by Horace Vachell recorded by Oclc there is only one to be found in the Russian language printed in 1910. This samizdat is a copy of an edition of 1926 which is absent from libraries across the world. This edition was forbidden and pulled from the shelves of all the Soviet libraries a few years later on the order of Jdanov who considered this popular English literature to be degenerate and harmful to the development of the Soviet spirit.
In spite of our various searches and interviews with several collectors and specialists it was impossible for us to locate another book by Vachell to have appeared in samizdat.
