Original typescript, 1st copy. 50 pages, which would have been originally held together by a paperclip which is here lost. 30 cm. The hand-written page numbers, the date and family name in the hand of the author.

Writer, essayist and specialist in Technical Graphics Valdberg would begin writing in 1968. As a member of a group of young science fiction writers at the Central House he worked as the gaffer at the film studio ‘Mosfilm’. IN 1976 Valdberg finished his studies at of philology at the Lomonossov State University of Moscow and would contribute to the review ‘Khimia i Zhizn’ for several years while also a critic at ‘Detgiz’.
After a first publication in Israel in 1980 he emigrated there the following year. In the USSR he would not be published until 1990.
“Ei! Mota-a-a-a…” is a three part novel without prologue but with afterword which first appeared in print in no.33 of the israeli literary journal ’22’ in 1983. It wasn’t until 1997 that the full 373 pages of the novel was published for the first time, still in Israel (OCLC: 45795778).
Our samizdat is the first version of the novel written in 1970 with Valdberg circulated among literary dissident circles.
