(3196) Ivanov, Viacheslav (1866-1949). “Chelovek”
Original typescript, 2nd or 3rd copy. 82 pages. 31cm. Amateur hardboard binding. Latin quotations added in ink. Samizdat dated 1971.
Samizdat taken from the Paris edition of 1939 and dedicated to the memory of Lev Shestov. All of the works by V. Ivanov were prohibited in the USSR very little time after his departure for Italy in 1924. “Chelovek” would only appear in Russia in 2006.
Samizdats of Ivanov are extremely rare because they were only produced for small circles of initiates who, while very cultivated, did not have the financial means to pay for a clandestine dactylograph to produce the samizdat. Like the majority of the texts not published during the Soviet era this one was never made the object of an official prohibition.
